Sourced on Walters last trip to Ireland, this 19th century Gibson chair is a wonderful example of naive Irish workmanship.

Sometimes called a Famine, Hedge or Primitive Windsor chair the Gibson chair is easily recognisable with it’s remarkable lean to the backrest of the chair – usually around 25°.

Typically made from sycamore with an ash seat and leg, this chair has the the ‘distinctive W’ arrangement of back spindles that distinguishes it as a Gibson.
